Covishield, ZyCov-D, & Covaxin; when and how these vaccines will be distributed

After the visit of PM Modi on Saturday to three top pharma companies of India to personally review the vaccine development status, the Serum Institute of India (SII) Chief Mr. Adar Poonawala said this regarding the distribution of the vaccine:

“Vaccine will be distributed initially in India, and then we will look at the COVAX countries which are mainly in Africa. The UK and European markets are being taken care of by AstraZeneca and Oxford. Our priority is India and COVAX countries.”

Vaccine Status of all three Pharma companies:

Zydus Cadila (Ahemdabad) – “ZyCoV-D”
The company has already completed the first stage of the vaccine. “We plan to complete all the trials of the vaccine by March 2021,” says company chairman Pankaj Patel. He also added the company plans to prepare 10 crore doses per year.

Serum Institute of India (Pune) – “Covishield”
Covishield vaccine is around 70-90% effective. The company’s CEO Adar Poonawala has said that India will be the top priority for vaccine distribution. After India, the company will supply to other countries. By July 2021 approx. 40 crore vaccine doses will be developed.

Bharat Biotech (Hyderabad) – “Covaxin
This vaccine is presently in its third stage of trial. Covaxin has 60% effectiveness.

On Saturday PM Modi made a visit to all three companies to review the development process and manufacturing of vaccines.

Now it is expected that India will receive the vaccine in a short period of time.
